What a boy will do for a video game & cell phone

What a boy will do for a video game and cell phone

Well the stories starts with Nathan's grades~

Nathan's grades dropped and he was making a bad grade, so that meant the video games and cell phones get taken away. He was without for a week and a half. Well Nathan had been keeping his hair long and even threw a fit the last time I cut cause I took too much off. He wore a hat for 2 days...lol

Dad needed a haircut and when he got home he told Nathan he would give him $50.00 if he got his hair cut short. Nathan said 'Uhhhh NO'. Then dad said if you get your haircut short I will give you back your game and cell phone. He thought about it for about 5 minutes and said 'OK'. Well it just amazes me what a boy will do to get his treasures back...lol He he did not even wear a hat or complain when I was done...

Show & Tell Monday~ Our Trip Back

Our trip back~
My daughter came to visit last weekend, she decided to live with her father for a while in Fisk, Missouri. She is growing up so fast and becoming such a grown lady. We had the most fun on the trip up, we chatted and sang as she took photo's of the city she misses so much. We stopped at really neat Antique Mall and of course she sat in the car listening to her music and chatting to friends. Little Miss Madison came in with me tho and we found lots of pretty treasures.
Here is some pics of our fun trip~ Enjoy!

Papier Mache Vintage Dress Form

I found this great vintage dress form at a antique mall. I papier mached this great piece and made it a one of a kind treasure~
After I tore and cut vintage papers, and vintage style scrapbooking paper, I mixed up my glue. I use a flour and water mixture. I carefully placed each piece of paper on the dress form. Then I let dry for about 2 hours.

During that time I made a beautiful vintage style tag with vintage papers and in my collection I found a great heart charm that compliments this treasures.
I looked through my lace collection and found the perfect lace trim and tied on the tag.
My end results are just charming and beautiful!

Truly a unique treasure at Shabby in Pink Boutique!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Christmas Bells

I heard the bells on Christmas DayTheir old, familiar carols play,And wild and sweetThe words repeatOf peace on earth, good-will to men!
And thought how, as the day had come,The belfries of all Christendom Had rolled alongThe unbroken song Of peace on earth, good-will to men!
Till, ringing, singing on its way The world revolved from night to day,A voice, a chime,A chant sublime Of peace on earth, good-will to men!
Then from each black, accursed mouthThe cannon thundered in the South, And with the sound The Carols drowned Of peace on earth, good-will to men!
And in despair I bowed my head;‘There is no peace on earth,’ I said;‘For hate is strong,And mocks the song Of peace on earth, good-will to men!’
Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:‘God is not dead; nor doth he sleep! The Wrong shall fail,The Right prevail,With peace on earth, good-will to men!’
Wishing all my friends a Very Merry Christmas & Happy New Years! Let next year be better for everyone!
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!

My Daughter's First Christmas Play

My Daughter's Christmas Play
Samantha and I had so much fun making her costume for her first Christmas play at school. She was picked as a puppy dog for the cast. We picked up a pair of plain black pants and felt. She modeled as I cut spots for her outfit. I used a headband and glued ears & a bow to it. She got a kick out the puppy dog tail. She was so cute and was not nervous. Did not miss a beat through the play. Well the poor thing got the flu bug later that night....
It was a evening I will never forget, she made me glow!

Pink Friday at MMP ~ Coming Up Roses

I’ve never seen a rose I didn’t love. From the first blossom of spring, gently swaying in the breeze, to an intricately stitched needlepoint, rich in history, I love them all.
Roses represent so many wonderful things and are often used to celebrate special milestones such as weddings, births and anniversaries. Roses have also been used throughout the centuries in estate and cottage gardens, home décor and fashion. Milliners used silk roses to embellish the finest hats, while seamstresses stitches the richest brocade drapes adorned with roses. Throughout the years, famous artists have studied and painted every aspect of the rose. Antique lithographs and post cards from the 1800s grace our homes today with their everlasting beauty while roses continue to gracefully fit every lifestyle and décor. If you have a soft spot for roses, won’t you please join us for PINK FRIDAY at Make Mine Pink on Friday October 24th. The boutiques at Make Mine Pink are pleased to present “Coming up Roses.”

My New Finds~ Show & Tell Tuesday

Show & Tell Tuesday
Saturday I went to a auction on my street. I remember seeing the old man working on his yard all the time. I was amazed how well he kept his home up. Well I found out Saturday that he passed away and his wife is in a home. I wondered where he was. Well I went to the auction and was amazed that I won this beautiful set. It was like they gave it away to me. I thought about how his family used to sit at this beautiful set for the holidays. They must have cherished it, because it was in wonderful shape. I had so much fun decorating the room Sunday and thinking of that sweet ole' man and family. I think this set has touched my heart and I love the story behind it. Enjoy!

In the Hope Chest~ Pink Friday

I Remember when I was a child, the mystery surrounding a hope chest was almost more than I could bear. I didn't even understand the concept, but knew it was something special and I wanted one of my own some day. Every year my older sister received something for Christmas "for your hope chest." As the years passed, I started to understand that the meaning of owning a "Hope Chest" was different for everyone. For some it was planning for a special wedding day that was sure to come, others used it to store heirloom linens and treasures passed down from generations, and yet for some, it held sad memories of dreams never realized. If you've been lucky enough to have a hope chest or perhaps had a glimpse into someone's, you'll find that no matter the purpose, each "Hope Chest" tells a story. What's yours?

Another Pink Friday at MMP!!

Stitches in Time; tiny stitches holding the hem of a linen napkin, stitches intertwined to make the most delicate lace, stitches crocheted by the smallest hook, stitches through canvas strengthened by wool yarn. It's these stitches created out of love that adorn a bedspread crocheted for a granddaughter's wedding, a sampler commemorating the birth of a child, a fine table cloth made to entertain the most important guests and family at Thanksgiving. Each of these stitches has survived the test of time and is so much more appreciated today as gifts from our past and treasures of our future.Join the Boutiques at Make Mine Pink for our "Stitches in Time" PINK Friday event, September 26. You will find the most cherished item stitched with time and love.To view all the praticipating Boutiques in this weeks PINK Friday Event, visit our PINK Friday page.

Harvest Home~ Pink Friday at MMP!

Harvest Home at Pink Friday!
When I think of a Harvest Home it conjures up many memories of my favorite time of year. Memories of cinnamon potpourri simmering on the stove, homemade apple pies in the oven from apples hand-picked at our local orchard and memories of family and friends gathered around the fire sipping hot spiced cider and making plans for the upcoming Holiday season.A glance out the window, framed like a fine painting, reveals the tree lined streets ablaze with colors so rich and vibrant that it beckons you out of the cozy warmth of your home to explore and experience every nuance of the season. The crisp fall air surrounds and teases you with the a waft of smoke from a neighboring chimney. It becomes a game, guessing the type of wood burning, each with their own distinct fragrance.Every color and scent of the season brings a flood of old memories and begins painting new.You quicken your step to get home. Home to the cozy and inviting warmth of the fire softly glowing in the hearth of your Harvest Home.Warmest Regards,Joyce Lucas, Founder of Make Mine Pink

A Visit from Billy Ray Cyrus

Wow~ Did we have FUN! We woke up very early around 4 a.m, got dressed. We headed the the little diner ' Parkside Grill '. When we arrived there was a huge crowd. My older daughter Hayleigh worked to help with the crowd. We had a wonderful breakfast. Then here came BILLY RAY CYRUS in his big bus. The town was so excited getting pictures & autographs. He is so handsome & nice. Samantha just loved getting her picture taken with him. We are going to frame the picture & autograph and hang it in her room. What a experience!
We also got a interview from a reporter for the town newspaper. Samantha's picture will be on the front page Sunday.

Show and Tell Monday at MMP

Show and Tell Monday at MMP
I found this ole' picture and frame at a resale shop. I fell in love with the photo of the women bathing in a old tub, look at her cute shoes. I shabbed out the frame with white paint. The corners of the frame is embellished with old brooches, earrings, and buttons. I thought this would be perfect for a shabby bathroom. Amazing how a old treasure can be made into a piece of art.
Wishing you a Happy Labor Day!

My sweet friend 'Angel'

My sweet friend Angel

On June 11th, Angel was diagnosed with terminal cancer. They only gave her a few days, but she fought with everything she had and lived another month. I was amazed at how strong and good spirited she was. Her beautiful children and family stood by her side every second. I was so happy to have the chance to visit her many times when she was in the hospital. Angel is the one in the blue and yellow jacket smiling. She had a beautiful smile and a beautiful heart. She was a nurse and cared for many people through her time. She also cared for my father n law when he was sick. She talked with me about what a wonderful man he was. I am so thankful to have known such a wonderful person. We had many memories together as growing up in our teens. Angel, we will miss you and love you always. Thanks for being such a special friend. I will see you someday.

Show and Tell Monday at MMP!

Show and Tell Monday at MMP!
This is a collection of some of my vintage jewel collection. I just love and admire vintage jewelry. In the first picture there is a silver bracelet with a Victorian cameo. This was my Aunt Ruths, I wear this all the time. Very special to me. Next to the bracelet is some vintage compacts that I have for sale on my site.
The second pic has some vintage rhinestone brooches and a unique green stone necklace.
One of my favorites is the pink vintage roulette souvenirs from Vegas and the old hat pins.
I think women back in time had a lot of elegance and class. And I admire the past so much that I swear I must have been a southern belle in a past life.
Happy Monday dear friends! Have a beautiful day!

Show and Tell Monday

Show and Tell Monday

Today I thought I would share a picture of my parents house in Ohio. I have been so busy and have had no time for creating. My parents moved back to Ohio from St.Louis about 6 years ago. This is there dream. The land has been a part of my dads family for years. The street is even named after my great grandmothers last name 'BUNCE Road". As growing up, this is where we always came to visit. My grandmothers house is still on the land infront of my parents. It is sad to see that grandma does not live there anymore and it remains empty. The house is very old and is in need of great repairs. I think my parents are planning on having it torn down. The land is so peaceful and full of nature. There is a pond through the woods that my dad, brothers, and my grandfather dug by hand. I love to go fishing down there. I remember my grandma and her friend Perry showing how to prepare a fish for dinner. My kids love to go down there, the tradition has carried on.

I am so happy that my parents have built a beautiful home on such a wonderful land. I hope they enjoy it there as much as I love visiting.

Happy Monday!

I love you Grandma

I will be traveling to Gallipolis , Ohio tomorrow. My 94 year old grandmother passed away Saturday evening. I was hoping to see her this week and was planning on leaving Wednesday. I feel like I should have visited her before she left. I am happy she is not suffering anymore and know she has found peace and comfort in heaven. I will miss her very much. I think the hardest part is going to be tomorrow when I come up her road to my parents and pass the home where she once lived for years. I have had many fond memories there. I hope she knows how much I love her and how I will miss her. I will remember those memories forever. I love you Grandma!

Valentines

Cupid was on a mission, he was searching high and low, For a couple so deserving of the love he could bestow. His travels took him near and far, from sea to shining sea, Undaunted in his looking for the love that’s meant to be. I’m down here waving wildly, in hopes Cupid will see, And that when he shoots his arrow, it will find it’s way to me. If his arrow flies unto me, will it inscribe your name? Here’s hoping that it comes to you, and maybe does the same. But if it flies on by me, your love is not to be my fate. But my love gives up not easily, so patiently I’ll wait.

New Valentines Treasures coming soon. Valentines is one of my favorite holidays. I am truly a romantic at heart. This week i am featuring my new Romantic Tulle Valentines Wreath. Adorned by pretty treasures. I will be taking custom orders on the wreaths. If interested, please contact me.

Enjoy!

Southern Belle Bars

Crust:
1 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1/2 cup butter softened
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup coarsely chopped pecans

Filling:
3/4 cup dark corn syrup
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
2 eggs
3 tablespoons all purpurse flour
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 cup coarsely chopped pecans

Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Combine 1 1/4 cups flour, butter and sugar in large bowl. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until mixture resembles course crumbs. Stir in 1/4 cup pecans.

Meanwhile, combine all filling ingredients except pecans in small bowl, mix well. Stir in pecans. Spread evenly over hot, partially baked crust. Bake for 20 - 30 minutes or until filling appears set and knife inserted 1-inch from edge comes out clean. Cool completely, cut into bars.

Yummy!!!! I love this recipe, it's a mini version of "Southern Pecan Pie"...serve with a warm mug of Christmas Hot Chocolate topped with whipped cream sprinkled with nutmeg or cinnamin.....Oh! please add a Santa Candy Cane to stir the christmas Hot Chocolate and add a special peppermint flavor. Enjoy!!

Girls Night Out!

Girls Night Out!

Daddy surprised Samantha and I to a Night Out with Hannah Montana. We had the best time. Samantha is a huge fan of her and thought she went to heaven. She took the Metro Link for the first time. Just watching her face was so cute. The poor thing, we had wonderful seats. The only problem is that everyone stands and she is so short it was very hard to see. She kept getting told to not stand on the chair. She learned how to sneak it.. Billy Ray Cyrus sat right behind us. He is so handsome. I think that is wonderful that he goes with his daughter. He is there to keep her safe and out of trouble, I am sure. Well I would love to share some pics... Enjoy And to all the moms & dads, the concert is well worth the money. All the girls just loved it.

Favorite Find

Favorite Find
I recently found this beautiful picture at a flea market. I just loved it from the moment I spotted it. Looks to be old, the back has a sticker that says Catholic Supply- St.louis Missouri. So much charm.
The pictures looks to be handmade with the words ' May the Giver and Receiver meet in Heaven'. The drawing is beautiful with a angel surrounded by roses.
This is truly a unique and special find.

Drying Hydrangeas
Hydrangeas are one of my favorites. I use dried hydrangeas in vases and wreaths throughout the house. Tips on drying the flowers.
* The best type of Peegee is the standard tree from, not the bush. The Peegee is known as four seasons because of the stages of color- white to green to pink and to brown.
*They are ready to pick for drying when a burgandy tone forms on the tips and the flowers on the branch are firm to the touch.
* Look for the ones that have a define cone shape. They are appealing and hold there shape.
*Hang them upside down to dry. The green and burgandy tones stay bright for up to a year. Beyond that they turn a pretty beige color.
Dried or live hydrangeas gives a cottage home charm.

This Thrifty Chic has a trick for a room smelling like a rose garden.
Use a old pot, fill halfway with water. Add your favorite scented poppouri, my favorite is Rose. Set the stove on simmer and let the lovely scent fill your home. Indulge yourself into the tranquillity of a garden.
This adds a wonderful touch for company or just to read a book and relax.

My New Friend & A Pillow

My New Friend & A Pillow

It was a week before Mother's Day and I was browsing through Ebay. I saw the prettiest pillow, I bid on the pillow & to my surprise, I won the pillow. I was so excited. A couple of days later the package arrived. When I opened the package it was wrapped in beautiful paper and said Happy Mother's Day. My heart melted, it was the loveliest surprise and a thoughtful touch. That was when a new friendship started. The pillow was the prettiest pillow I had ever seen, it was perfect and reminded me of my kids and the dog heading to the pond for a day of fishing. It had touched my heart and made me smile.

Now BeverlyJean sells her beautiful work in Shabby in Pink Boutique. We chat just about everyday, we have so much in common. Two creative women sharing what we love to do.

Welcome 'Shabby Chic Pink Ladybug Designs'

I believe that the pillow was meant to bring a wonderful new friendship.

"Old friends are always best,

unless you can find a

new one to make and old

one out of."

Thank You BeverlyJean, I am so glad we met.
